Google Scholar: Search publications and other scholarly material over the net.

Scirus: For scientific information........it index resources with scientific contents.

Entrez: The life science search engine that searches across different databases like PubMed, PubMed Central, OMIM, Nucleotide sequence database (GenBank), Protein sequence database and many more.

Databases

NCBI: It maintains several databases and provides a very powerful tool to search these databases. For a complete list of these databases click here.

In additional NCBI provides

EMBL:It maintains several databases and provides a very powerful tool to search these databases. For a complete list of these databases click here.

DDBJ:It maintains several databases and provides a very powerful tool to search these databases. For a complete list of these databases click here.

Sequence Analysis and Manipulation Programs

Webcutter: Find out the restriction enzyme sites in the DNA sequence.

MethPrimer: This is a program for designing bisulfite-conversion-based Methylation PCR Primer. Currently, it can design primers for two types of methylation mapping PCRs: 1) Methylation-Specific PCR (MSP) and 2) Bisulfite-Sequencing PCR (BSP) or Bisulfite-Restriction PCR.

Primers: This page has lots of links to primer design programs, tutorials, databases and tools for PCR (multiplex, inverse etc).

The following links will take you to sites which offers lots of services .........like ....check out  yourself.

NCBI: Tools for data mining

SRS: Sequence analysis tool

EMBL: Services offered at EMBL

Genome Browsers

The following is a list of browsers which can be used to browse through various genomes like human, mouse, rat, fruitfly etc.

UCSC: This site contains the reference sequence for the human and C. elegans genomes and working drafts for the mouse, rat, Fugu, Drosophila, C. briggsae, and SARS genomes.

ENSEMBL: This site can be used to browse through the human, mouse, rat, zebra fish and fugu. Very soon chimp is going to join.

Vista: The Vista Genome Browser is a Java program that allows the user to view the results of whole genome comparisons. It displays a Vista graph of the whole genome alignments interactively, allowing users to easily scroll, zoom in, and adjust display parameters.

Dictionary / Encyclopedias
Genetic terms: A hypermedia glossary of genetic terms by Birgid Schlindwein. Greater than 650 entries.
Dictionary: Meanings / definitions  and pronunciation of words.
