PROMOTER RESOURCES PAGE |
Promoter: a region of DNA usually occurring upstream from a gene coding region and acting as a controlling element in the expression of that gene. It serves as a recognition signal for an RNA polymerase and marks the site of initiation of transcription. |

Promoters can be predicted by using variety of programs. (Click here) Before we proceed to isolate a promoter, the first thing one would like to know is the site of initiation of transcription which is commonly referred to as "Transcription Start Site". |
1. Transcription Start Site mapping |
2. Making deletion constructs |
3. Cloning / Sub-cloning |
4. Transfections |
5. Luciferase assays |
6. Data plotting |
